Wayne Rooney: Footballer under Fire

October 22, 2010 Current Affairs No Comments

Some international footballers might require technical translation services if they decide to leave the team of their home country and play abroad. One UK footballer who is certainly less in need of a London translation agency than a local security firm is Wayne Rooney; England’s star striker has received death threats from angry football fans after announcing plans to leave Manchester United.

This week Wayne Rooney made headlines over a decision not to renew his contract with the Manchester United team, with press citing unsatisfactory pay and a strained working relationship with manager Sir Alex Ferguson as his reason for leaving. If Wayne Rooney thought public criticism was strong when the news that he cheated on his wife Coleen hit the tabloids, it was nothing compared to the response of outraged Man United supporters who fear he may join rival team Manchester City.

Last night a mob of 30 angry football fans gathered outside Wayne Rooney’s Cheshire home to harass him and demand to hear his real reasons for wanting to abandon United. The crowd was quickly dispersed by police and a private security patrol was set up outside the player’s residence. This morning a giant Nike Football banner featuring an image of Wayne Rooney was found defaced with the scrawled message “Join City and you’re dead”.

Since the infidelity scandal, Wayne Rooney has shown a dramatic loss of form, and it has been reported that the player feels Alex Ferguson has forced him too spend far too much time on the bench. It is true that the loss of Wayne Rooney would mean the loss of an icon for Man United, but perhaps in time fans will begin appreciating those footballers who spend less time in the limelight, and more time improving their form on the pitch.

Redditch United Seeking New Management

May 4, 2011

There are some major changes happening at The Valley, home of Redditch United, the UK football club recently taken over by business icon Chris Swan. Manager Simon Redhead has been dismissed from his post at Redditch, following a difficult season after which the club finished at the bottom of the table. Experienced non exec Chris Swan, who became the Chairman of Redditch United FC in March, is eager to improve the team’s performance, and since Mr Redhead’s appointment at the start of February, Redditch has lost 15 games under his management. Mr Swan informed Mr Redhead of the decision at a meeting on Tuesday night.

Chris Swan tells press that Mr Redhead offered his services to Redditch United FC during a difficult time, and that everyone at the club appreciates his efforts greatly. However, Mr Swan feels it is time for the Reds to take a new direction. “This is a crucial time for the club” he says “and it was felt that a change of manager was needed if we were to be competitive next season”.

Of course, this means that Redditch United will be looking for fresh management to take them forward into a more successful season. According to dedicated executive coach and avid football fan Chris Swan, the right man for the Redditch post will be someone with sound knowledge of the game, who can bring an element of discipline to the club. Mr Swan says they will be looking for “someone who will be proud to wear the Redditch United colours” as they take on the challenge of building a stronger side.

Chris Swan believes that there are exciting things in store for Redditch United in the coming season, and wants to take the right steps to ensure their future success.

Chris Swan Takes Over Redditch Football Club

March 28, 2011

In what is surely a daring and innovative move, leading local entrepreneur has taken over one of the oldest established football clubs in the Midlands. Redditch Football Club welcomes Chris Swan as the chairman of the club and finds itself injected with new optimism.

Chris Swan was born and bred in Birmingham in the UK. He has spent his life developing businesses, working as a non exec and supporting the growth of local communities and businesses. Swan is taking a new step in life where he can combine his business skills with his passion for football, which is a decidedly winning formula for Redditch Borough Football Club.

The club was founded in 1891 as Redditch Town Football Club and played its first match in the Birmingham Combination in 1891-92. The club achieved success after just two years when it won the Worcestershire Senior Cup in 1894 and became runners up in 1898. Redditch Football Club were proud to win the Birmingham Combination Championship in 1914, and finally achieved countrywide recognition when they took home the Birmingham Senior Cup in 1925.

Chris Swan plans to continue this successful reign some 90 years later and says about his takeover of Redditch Borough Football Club and being their executive coach:

“I am a committed football supporter and I want the strong heritage of the team to continue.  The Reds have a strong future and I am looking forward to working with the Club, the team and especially the loyal fans as together we develop its potential in the league.”

During the 2010-11 season, the Redditch Football Club changed its title due to an extended sponsorship deal with the online betting company Blue square Bet. The club has experienced a challenging season so far, but truly loyal fans are dedicated supporters and have been cheering the team on throughout.

Supporters can expect great things from this new relationship between Redditch Football Club and Chris Swan.

UK celebrities see a dip in their home property value

June 23, 2010

The housing slump is slowly but surely beginning to show signs of recovery and no matter the size or stature of a home or apartment, all of us have been faced with a real estate dilemma if we have been in possession of a property in the past few years. Celebrities are not exempt from property challenges just because they are a-listers and celebrity homes that are trying to be sold or have been evaluated recently have not pleased their celebrity owners.

Celebrity homes might be larger and more opulent than the everyday Londoner property but there is no doubt that the slump in the property market has taken everyone for a ride. Even though many of us are facing the same property crisis, we are still taking extra precautions to ensure our future such as investing in a residential property fund as well as SIPP investments in order to make sure that no matter what happens, our investments will remain secure.

Many UK celebrities are seeing their celebrity homes being devalued as the property market finds it feet and individuals who are experiencing celebrity home woes include Madonna, Wayne Rooney and Cheryl Cole. Madonna owns numerous homes but one of her celebrity homes in Ashcombe is down in value by over £450 000, making her site tight on her celebrity home for the mean time.

Celebrity singer Cheryl Cole is also experiencing the property recession and one of her celebrity homes is facing the heat, but only by over £8 000, a sure relief to her no doubt. Wayne Rooney on the other hand is having a bit more of a difficult time. His Surrey famous celebrity home has fallen over £250 000 in value, a considerable drop to one of his lavish homes. Other celebrity homes that have been subjected to a dip in value includes those of Charlotte Church, Kate Moss and the famous Lampard family.

There is no doubt that the property market does not discriminate and in addition to securing property investment London measures and pension plans, nothing else can be done besides playing the waiting game as we wait for the rain to clear and the sunny skies of the new and improved property market to appear. But until then, it seems that there will not be any celebrity homes for sale until better days are here.
