November 10, 2011 Current Affairs No Comments

Much has been made about the proposed construction of the London River park; another one of the exciting developments in London for the 2012 Olympics. But recent reports suggest that construction of the river park will be delayed until after the Queen’s 60th anniversary. The reason behind this is due to concerns for Her Royal Majesty’s safety.

The Diamond Jubilee is held each year to celebrate the Queen’s ascension to the throne and is involves a procession of 1000 boats down the River Thames. If construction for the London River Park was to begin now then it will still be under construction at the same time as the Diamond Jubilee is held on the 3rd of June 2012. The Port of London recently performed a risk assessment audit and they are concerned that the platform that will be constructed as part of the development will be hit by the boats and barges as the flotilla travels down the Thames.
