Malta Launches Draft National Strategy for Creative Prosperity

August 8, 2012 Current Affairs No Comments

malta-creative-strategyMalta has seen an impressive growth of cultural attraction to the Island in recent times. There has been a surge of interest in the country for its picturesque landscape that has brought with it an interest by film production companies around the world. In an effort to boost creative support in Malta, a draft national strategy has been produced, backed by Tourism and Finance Ministers, Tonio Fenech and Mario de Marco.

Making Mediterranean Waves

The strategy is aimed at putting Malta on the grid as a recognised creative hub in the Mediterranean. Malta gaming is already recognised as a major industry leader on the international stage. Recognising that perhaps the most important part of fostering a strong creative society is by encouraging youth to get involved in various creative activities and allow them to thrive in whichever they take a shining to.

Tiny Talent

draft-national-strategy-creativeInstitutions and environments that nurture creative talents are in planning and whether it’s creative wring, art or design, the platform wants to provide sound means of cultural exchange between international markets. Fenech explains that in order to achieve this, it needs to be rooted in a cultural, economic and social environment that will in the future hopefully allow creatives as many resources to follow their passion – as advocates in Malta have to follow theirs.

Most Growth

Dr de Marco mentioned how the creative and cultural sector has experienced larger growth than any other areas of late, employing 8000 people in 3600 enterprises. Proving that the time and money invested in the bill and the backing by the Department of Finance signifies a confidence in development of creative talent in the country.

Malta Jobs Creation with Aviation Industry Growth

March 11, 2013

As Malta becomes one of the hotspots for international investment, many Maltese companies are seeing a major boost to their business. M.C.M Maintenance Centre Malta is one such company that is growing and creating more Malta jobs for locals, with their latest acquisition of a hangar for more aircraft maintenance.

Job Creation

Started in December 2008 M.C.M Maintenance has grown substantially and increased their employment significantly particularly in the operations department. The company specialises in the repair and maintenance and aircraft, specifically in the overhaul of business jets. The company’s recent acquisition of a new hangar is thanks to a 5.5 million Euro investment, which means 40 new Malta jobs. The company operates from the islands but with its international clientele their need for an international law firm means even further job creation. The demand for larger aircraft has led to the need for larger facilities, as the current M.C.M Maintenance facilities cannot reasonably accommodate larger craft. The new hangar will be 2,400 square-metres and is set to be constructed adjacent to the current hangar.

Malta government has welcomed the news and as Tonio Fenech, Malta’s Finance Minister, has said that this is part of the massive aviation industry growth that Malta has seen over the course of the past five years. As part of the fastest growing industry, aviation in Malta has developed so much that many Malta jobs in this sector has called for more flight academics and further studying, which is great for the economy in terms of further tertiary educated citizens.

Aviation in Malta means more job creation, better quality of education and a bigger employment ratio, which at this stage means close to 1,100 more Malta jobs already actualized. The government continues to plough money into this expanding industry, and clearly with great results.

Malta Business Grows with Spain’s Investment Interests

December 13, 2012

As one of the fastest growing economies in the world thanks to tourism and international investment, Malta business investments are increasing tenfold. The influx of Spanish tourists over the years, most notably 100 000 in the last year, has lead to a lucrative business relationship between the two countries.

Small Island Big Growth

With so much international interest in Malta companies and investing in businesses it comes as no surprise that the relationship between Malta and Spain is moving into high gear following a visit from Spain’s Ambassador to Malta, Felipe de la Morena Casado, along with thirty Spanish executives, to Malta.

The visit comes on the heels of the Maltese government punting the countries strengths at many international business forums. With a set vision in mind, the Maltese government has identified several sectors which they feel would give Malta business opportunities that it otherwise may not have the strength to build on its own. Everything from renewable energy, financial services, aviation and biotechnology are several sectors amongst the leading Spanish companies who are showing a huge interest in the island.

As part of the growth plan, these Spanish company leaders took meetings with several top executives of 62 of Malta’s strongest companies, and worked on plans and workshops that would assist with the growth of these companies. Everything from Maltese tax to small business growth was explored, and further visits look to be taken up in the near future. As Malta business grows with the international relationships going from strength to strength, Malta is fast becoming a leader in many global sectors.

Malta Aviation Set to Take on the World

December 12, 2012

The stunning tourist destination of Malta has become a hub of international investment with many countries eager to get on board and invest in the strong economy of the little country. So it would come as no surprise that Malta aviation is now looking to repeat the success of its land counterparts.

Taking on the World

Malta’s growth has expanded to transport and now it is rated as the seventh most capacious shipping register in the world. With shipping routes extending to every corner of the globe, Malta aviation has now launched a campaign to turn it into one of the most extensive sky services in the world.

As Malta was awarded the George Cross medal by Britain, for its resistance to naval and air raids during World War II, it stands to reason that Malta has the capabilities of owning one of the largest air and land transport infrastructures in the world. This campaign by the Malta Ministry includes a new civil aviation directorate as well as further improved land transport and overall communication between all sectors.

While the Maltese government moves to expand its ventures to and from Europe, the proposed Malta aviation campaign will no doubt be extremely advantageous for local and international Malta company incorporation. An international Malta aviation register will afford many positive aspects for other providers of additional aviation services. It’s also a coup for businesses who want to operate from Malta thanks to its prime geographical positioning and incredibly fruitful relationships with many international communities.

There has been an increase in international business ventures as Malta lawyers are on their toes with many investors enquiring about expanding into business on the island. As Malta aviation grows along with the business ventures, Malta looks set to take over the world.

Malta Economy Second Strongest in EU

December 9, 2012

It’s a small island that has been moving forward in leaps and bounds to compete with larger European counterparts. The Malta economy has come so far in the last two years that it statistics report it to have the second best economy in Europe. The stats, issued by Eurostat expressly state that the country has performed best amongst the 17 Eurozone member states.

Dynamite Comes in Small Packages

The stunning Mediterranean island is largely known for its magical tourism spots filled with rich history dating back 5 000 years, the Neolithic temples, 300 days of summer, and many street festivals centred around tradition. These have all drawn tourists to Malta like moths to a flame. However, just when it was thought the island had discovered it’s draw card of economic growth, the government went onto the international platform and marketed everything from Malta gaming, Skyparks, family businesses and the film location prospects, amongst many others, as the ultimate Malta economy investment opportunity – the results of which speak for themselves.

During the summer months the Malta economy came second to Estonia, with tourism investment playing a large part in the stimulation of Malta’s economy. Additionally the main sectors, which have registered mammoth growth, are retail, finances, manufacturing, and real estate, which has been at the forefront of a lot of press lately. Many stars have shown interest in purchasing property in Malta, and this makes it a particularly attractive property prospect for international investors.

The island is favourable thanks to the Malta tax law for incoming investors and family-owned local businesses. As the Malta economy moves on course to sail through a relatively rough economic climate, it has proved to the financial analysts that even with tough times, it doesn’t all have to be doom and gloom.

Malta’s Corporate Village is New Business Hub

October 2, 2012

With the recent advertising of Malta taking place at high profile conference centres across several business cities in the world, the newly planned Corporate Village in Malta will further attract investment and give international companies opportunities to take advantage of the burgeoning tourist trade and investments in Maltese businesses.

Corporate Village

The plan is for the village to be a leading statement in sustainability and to capture the aspirations of the nation. The massive Corporate Village footprint is planned to host up to 130,000 departs and organisations that largely centre around commerce and trade that include legal services for several Malta lawyers firms, brokers and international traders.

The idea is to create a hub for government organisations and business support agencies to assist with the building of Malta. The Corporate Village will be situated in Mriehel which is short distance from many entities extremely important to the function of those hosted in the village. Malta’s International Airport, Valletta’s cruise passenger terminal and the Freeport in Birzebugga are major gateways for the island of Malta and provide easy travelling for businessmen and officials travelling to Malta.

The award-winning Corporate Village concept has been met with a lot of enthusiasm from government officials and potential investors, while the Maltese are looking forward to the growth of their country and economy in Malta business.
