London Riots Result in Violence Elsewhere
As the London riots begin to quell somewhat, arguments as to the cause of them are heating up. Thousands of additional police were brought in to help put an end to the violence in London. Tempers are still running high and politicians are debating as to whether deprivation or criminality is behind the rioting in London. Meanwhile, “vigilante” communities are also doing their part to stop the riots and to protect their places of worship.
Tuesday night saw the riots in London spread to Manchester and Liverpool and there was a hit-and-run murder of two brothers as around 80 people tried to protect a local business that night. At least 400 people have been arrested as a result of “copycat” criminal activity and people are being charged with a variety of criminal offences.
Some guards who work at security guard companies in Gauteng are doubtless considering whether or not to go to the UK to offer their services. In the meantime police cars are being smashed by vigilantes and looters are forcing their way into stores and making off with goods. As the London riots continue today we see more of the criminal activities occurring throughout the UK with fires being started in Croydon, rioting in Hackney and damage to restaurants and shops in Ealing, west London and Ealing Broadway.
Residents have commented on the riots in central London and further afield saying that they feel their sense of community has been hurt and damaged by the senseless violence. With many areas of London resembling a war zone and the violence that is accompanying the riots, security guards companies are in high demand. In the meantime police are doing all they can to quell the violence and stop the London riots from spreading to other areas of the UK.
