Job Shadowing for Soon-To-Be Graduates
The end of the year is barrelling towards us as a pace that we can barely register. Now is the time for soon-to-be school graduates to seriously consider their future careers. This is why several colleges in Malta have organised job shadowing for Form 4 students.
The idea is for the job shadowing to provide the students with skill sets which will equip them for the working world as well as a means to further their studies in their chosen careers. These job shadowing opportunities provide students with mentors who are on board to answer all students’ questions and enquiries while they watch mentors performing their jobs. These placements for students to shadow their mentors also include mock interviews and learning how to write curriculum vitaes, and even small business introductions for students who wish to open a Malta business some day.
The entire program was set up between 55 companies from 15 different sectors and up to 10 schools who had roughly 700 students who were looking towards job shadowing. The opportunities presented were varied with many students showing interest in shadowing mentors in the tourism-industry while a few showed an interest in several Malta lawyers firms.
The program is in its third phase and has proved to be exceptionally popular with students who are exceptionally eager to move into the working world very quickly. The job shadowing programs are also perfect for students who require more information on which direction they wish to take before they choose a career path and commence with long-term studies.
