We all want the best for our children. We hope that they experience a good life filled with health and happiness as well as a fruitful and rewarding education and career. Learning starts at home, but schools form an integral part of our children’s future. Finding a London school can prove difficult at times as we would all like to send our children to a good grounded school with excellent standards. Many of us will even relocate from our original homes to a more appealing Battersea property for example because of its better school system, simply for that reason. London is full of excellent schools and if we are lucky enough to have our children accepted into these institutions, we will do anything to keep them there.

Some of the best private and state schools in London with international reputations give preference to people who live in the neighbourhood where the school is situated. Many desperate parents have even lied about their locations in London, giving a relative’s address in order to gain access to the school. Schools are now cracking down on these mothers and fathers and in the future, these parents could face fines and court action.

Recent studies show that parents will indeed pay more just to live in the neighbourhood of their desired London school. People who wish to buy a home in an area close to their preferred school even pay higher premiums. It is estimated that parents are forking out 16 percent more in order to live on the street or down the road from these revered London schools.

There are areas in London that offer homes for over and above their worth just because of their attractive location. Leatherhead is a prime example of this as the area’s prices are a staggering 59 percent above the Surrey average, according to research. Other London areas that are well known and sought after for their nearby schools are Winchester and Tunbridge Wells.

It seems that these areas do not have such a high turnover rate owing to the fact that once a family moves into their new home, it is unlikely that they will move for the next few years at least. Relocating to an area that is close to your desired London school is not always a guarantee that your  children will be accepted, but many will take that risk in order to help their chances of gaining access to a school that many have not had the opportunity to attend themselves.
