Evel Knievel, A True Daredevil Icon

The name Evel Knievel is synonymous with daring acts of excitement and wild behavior. This adventure seeking man completed some of the craziest acts of courage while looking completely cool and under control in his usual USA flag attire. Evel knievel’s cloths were specially created to resist the hard falls he was prone to and it was fire resistant. If he was still performing stunts today he would be the poster boy for any hardwearing workwear brand and would look good in his Scruffs work trousers.

Evel Knievel was a true pioneer of his time and awed crowds with his height defying acts. He was a true American daredevil and entertainer and upon asking any stuntmen who their idols are, Evel Knievel’s name comes up. Throughout his incredible career he attempted over 75 ramp to ramp motorcycle jumps and a failed jump across Snake River Canyon in a steam powered rocket. Although many safety requirements were taken to ensure Evel Knievel’s safety, from safety boots that were as efficient as the modern Scruffs safety boots to an extra padded helmet, the daredevil stuntman still went into the Guinness world records book as the survivor of the most broken bones in a lifetime, he broke 433 bones throughout his career. In one of the most famous stunts ever performed, Evel Knievel amazed onlookers when he drove his motorcycle 1551 feet over the fountains of the Caesars palace in Las Vegas and landed in a bone crunching crash.

Evel Knievel was a true icon of the 70s, his showmanship inspired thousands and he became somewhat of a folk legend. Upon retiring Evel Knievel told reporters that all he had he was nothing but scar tissue and surgical steel. The quintessential king of daredevils, Evel Knievel will always be the corner stone of exciting stunts.
