One Year Since Malta Law Adopted Divorce

malta-law-voteIt has been one year since Malta law was amended and a non-binding referendum was held with the outcome being that divorce in Malta would be legalised.

Malta, a predominantly Catholic state was well known throughout Europe and the World as the only country in the EU whose law did not accommodate for divorce and only the second in the world (apart from the Philippines) who forbade the practice. The country has since shaken off that title and favourable Malta tax laws and beautiful scenery may just have become Malta’s standout characteristics since then. 

Two Malta Crews to Compete in 2012 Rolex Giraglia Cup

giraglia cupTwo Maltese boats and crews who achieved outstanding performance at the 2011 Rolex Middle Sea Race will be competing in the 2012 Rolex Giraglia Cup in the hope of achieving similar or better results. The two J-22 Cruiser Racers, the ultimate 41 foot sailboat for serious sailors, named Artie and Otra Vez, came first and third in the Rolex Middle Sea Race respectively. The Rolex Middle Sea Race was co-founded by the Royal Malta Yacht Club and is well-known throughout Malta and the World, from Comino to Sydney.

The Rolex Giraglia Cup is one of the most prestigious offshore tests in Europe and attracts experienced crews from all over the continent. The 2012 race is the 60th edition and includes a prologue race from Sanmero to Saint Tropez on the 8th June, followed by the main race from Saint Tropez through La Giraglia to Sanremo in Italy on the 13th June. Tchernichovsky Prize For Translation Awarded

The Tchernichovsky Prize for exceptional translation services has been awarded and the winners are Dr. Aminadav Dykman and Tal Nitzan. The panel of judges who moderated the process and the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality awarded the prize to Dykman and Nitzan for their years of outstanding translation work. The two translators who are known for their professional translation services have been congratulated by other specialists in many a translation service UK and across the world.

Dykman has conducted an array of poetry translation that was initially written in numerous ancient and modern languages. Some of his most important translation services included an anthology of 17th century European poetry. Nitzan received his accolades and prize for his translation of poems and prose written in a number of languages, namely Spanish.

Friday Marks The Introduction Of The Cookie Law

This Friday marks the last working day for Businesses in the UK to organise their websites to be compliant with the Cookie Law that has been passed with many an international law firm agreeing with this law. The Cookie law is a new law that was passed in 2012 that aims to govern the use of Cookies. Specific websites for businesses must gain ‘informed consent’ form visitors visiting their sites before saving cookies on the computer.

Cookies are the pieces of data captured in the form of personal data when users browse the web which is sometimes used for power advertising. A tool and program is being introduced to the public by the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) that enables them to report any websites that are not complying with this Cookie law in the UK. In a disruption to this Cookie Law being passed in 2012, it has been estimated that most sites will not be ready in time. The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has stated that they will not be taking immediate action over non-compliant sites but instead will offer guidance until a specified cut off date.
