Known as one of the most extreme races on earth, contestants are put through their paces after they decide which of the two ‘marathons’ over the 379 miles or 155 miles they prefer to take part in.  They also need to pick a mode of transport they want to use for the race; contestants can go by ski, bike, kite-ski or foot.

Starting in the Siberia, the race takes part on Lake Baikal – which is the world’s oldest and deepest lake – that is covered by an eerily cold black ice during winter and sees temperatures drop to -40° with gale force winds of up to 200km/h. Also known as the ‘world’s most terrifying race,’ the Siberian Black Ice race is set over two weeks and competitors brave enough to enter the race have to be self-sufficient throughout the course of the race, in the extremely hostile terrain. Entrants must ensure they have sufficiently warm workwear trousers and they’re responsible for all their race gear.
