Just under two months ago, a Perspex display began its creation process. Alan Rees-Baynes and the Torch Theatre interviewed various members of the local public, showing them a shiny blue Perspex acrylic sheet cut into the shape of a rectangle – he then tasked the public into vocalizing what the rectangle meant to them, how they perceived it. As an added wrinkle to the task, they could only describe the Perspex shape in two words. First one person responded, then the responses for the Perspex display came pouring in and at the end of the day, over 250 responses were noted. The two word description of the rectangle became the title of his project ‘In Two Words’.

Online Translation – Changing the Face of Our World

Would the immigration cap be lifted if online translation services helped us to better understand our fellow man? Most likely, yes. If correct Chinese English translation services were in place, then there would be less political involvement, open communications and better working conditions for the millions of immigrants that travel to foreign countries for better working opportunities. Language is still a massive barrier, yet the question is – for how much longer? The predicted population for 2011 is sitting at seven billion. Of this massive number, 30% have internet access and the majority only speaks a total of ten languages online. There are close to 7000 spoken human languages, therefore it is essential to invest in online translation services.

Legendary recording artist Robin Gibb is the latest addition to the MN2S artist roster.

Gibb, along with brothers Barry and Maurice, formed the Bee Gees in 1960, making their UK debut in 1967. In the following four decades, the trio enjoyed enormous commercial success, becoming one of the best-selling British groups of all time.

During the 1970s, Robin became the recognizable voice of the group, lending his distinctive vocals to a string of disco hits. Many of the songs written and performed by the Bee Gees in this period – such as ‘Jive Talkin’, ‘Night Fever’ and ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ – still get heavy radio and club play to this day.

Despite the Bee Gees no longer being active, Robin still enjoys a healthy solo career and last year tasted chart success with ‘Islands In The Stream’, a collaboration with Tom Jones and the cast of the BBC TV comedy Gavin & Stacey recorded for the Comic Relief charity.

George Morel gets his groove back

Legendary New York house producer George Morel has got his groove back – thanks to spending more time with his family.

Morel was once one of the hardest working men in house, and was dubbed “the Quincy Jones of dance music” by DJ magazine. But his globetrotting DJ lifestyle and constant studio work tired him out mentally and physically, so he decided to take a step back and cut down on commitments.

Now, after spending some quality time with his nearest and dearest, he’s looking forward to throwing himself back into work.

“I decided to take time off because I didn’t have the ability to fully focus in the studio due to all my travelling,” he recently told Beatport’s Beatportal blog. “This is something most DJs have to face and attempt to balance. I wanted time to line up my vision for the future and take the direction that would work best for me. Now that I managed to cover those areas, I’m ready to go forward once again.”
