Cooking with Katy

How are we ever going to get cookery onto the national school curriculum?  Jamie Oliver might have tackled what kids are eating at school, but the greater challenge might have been to get them actual cooking lessons.  It’s a life skill and if you think about it, it’s astonishing that we learn to speak a second language but can’t boil an egg.

Hospital translators vital in emergency situations.

We all know that translators as well as interpreters are needed in the translation of books, legal documents and info rational sites. A legal translation agency commonly offers other translation services but these services are commonly done from their offices as work is sent in, translated and sent back to the client. Many of us tend to forget about a hospital translator as not all people who come into a hospital needing immediate and emergency help can all speak the recognized language and some will need hospital translation.

When your business is mainly online and all of your data is stored on computers, it is important to make sure that you have imagined the worst scenario possible and how you would approach that particular scenario (or disaster) if you were faced with it. Anything from staff disputes, to electricity cuts and even data loss – a new business needs to be prepared for anything because we all know that these days, anything can happen. Many companies look at the worst event that could happen and then from this imaginary disaster, come up with a solution in case this ever happens in real life. Do you wear your workwear well?

Some of us (myself included) do not have to wonder if their work clothes are appropriate/professional/approachable enough. For the lucky individuals who work behind the scenes, our work clothes consist of a pair of jeans and a comfortable jersey. But, a vast majority of us do have to dress a certain way for work, and when you are meeting clients and having business sessions it is imperative that your work clothes represent the brand that you are working for. Whilst many feel the need to still integrate their personal style into their work clothes, there are a few work clothing regulations that must be followed in the workplace in order to avoid distraction and exude a professional work ethic in the UK work place.

Hammersmith houses high on political agenda

April 23, 2010 property No Comments

Hammersmith is an area of contention in this election, with the issue Hammersmith houses and social services cropping up in regularly in public addresses and discussions. Yesterday, 22 April, the Labour party appealed against what it called a “triple threat” of a Tory mayor, local authority and government, saying that such a setup could lead to cuts in public spending. This would negatively affect the many people in the area who are reliant on social Hammersmith housing and services.

Addressing those who attended the Labour party’s launch at the Irish Centre in Hammersmith, cabinet minister John Denham even went so far as to say that a situation of complete Tory control could spell the end for Crossrail and a relapse into recession for the country.
